Then there is a six bedroom Victorian guesthouse that is absolutely stunning. Many of the original features of the house have been well preserved over the years, and the place offers a wonderful, comfortable stay.

The attractions in the town match the accommodation offered in number and quality. Dunham Massey, for instance, is a fabulous place to simply stroll around and enjoy the peace and quiet that it offers. This is an early Georgian Trust Property with the most beautiful Edwardian interior. It has absolutely spectacular grounds, with its very own deer park, lovely shady tree lined avenues and plenty of water features in the form of ponds.

Redhouse Farm is a place where the whole family can spend a day enjoying all the activities offered and work off some energy. There are tearooms on the farm where you can sample some of the wide variety of rural delicacies they have on offer, that are all locally produced. If you have children, they will love the Maize Maze that is found on the farm.

Waterside Arts Center was opened to the public seven years ago, and its popularity as an attraction has grown in leaps and bounds. Today it is one of the most important cultural venues in the Greater Manchester area. Also in the town is a multi screen cinema that has won numerous awards. If you are into ice skating, then do visit the temporary ice rink that is available. Also worth a mention is the fact that the town is home to the Manchester Phoenix ice hockey team.

Visit Quarry Bank Mill, and learn all there is to know about this first generation water wheel that was built in seventeen eight four. Here you will see the fascinating water wheel, the steam engines, and various other interesting things to do with this piece of history.

The Penny Farthing museum should definitely not be missed and is close to these Altrincham hotels. James Starley invented the Penny Farthing in eighteen seventy one and this museum, which is actually a tearoom, is where you can enjoy a meal while looking at the worlds largest collections of Penny Farthings that are suspended from the ceiling.

Those interested in aircraft, should definitely make and effort to visit the aeroplane collection approximately eight miles out of town. It is an extremely interesting collection of aircraft that has been collected over a long period of time, and is one of the most intriguing military aviation exhibitions in the region.

If you are traveling with children younger than the age of eleven then Antz in Your Pantz is where to go. It is a soft play area in Timberley that has loads of safe, exciting fun for younger children. Events occur all through the year at this venue, and delicious home cooked meals are available.
